Description

Nintendo of America has officially announced the Elite Gold and Platinum rewards for Club Nintendo members in 2012, highlighting fresh incentives for those devoted to the company's celebrated loyalty program.

Historically, the Club Nintendo rewards have served as a means for the gaming giant to reward its most engaged fans, offering exclusive merchandise and unique digital content.

For 2012, qualifying members—those who accumulated sufficient coins by June 30th—are now receiving notifications of their well-earned choices, although redemption through the Club Nintendo website is slated for a later date. This year’s Club Nintendo Platinum reward, designated for members who amassed at least 600 coins over the eligibility period, offers two new standout options.

Members can select a set of three visually striking posters featuring iconic Nintendo characters: Zelda, Luigi, and Pit.

These premium posters present new designs and would be a proud addition to any collector’s game room.

The second choice for Platinum members is an upgraded set of Mario-themed playing cards, offering a fresh take on a classic favorite previously available in standard prize pools. Gold status, achieved with the collection of 300 coins, brings with it the staple Club Nintendo calendar.

This year’s calendar is rumored to showcase artwork from the Wii U era, potentially including imagery from new releases such as Nintendo Land, continuing a tradition of calendars featuring Nintendo’s latest hits.

Notably, Platinum members who are not interested in posters or cards have the option to instead receive the calendar. For the first time, Nintendo of America is also providing greater flexibility for reward redemption.

Elite Club Nintendo members now have the option to select from a range of digital downloads in lieu of physical items.

Available titles from the esteemed Virtual Console and DSiWare catalogs include ‘Super Mario Kart’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask’ for the Wii Virtual Console, ‘Metroid II: Return of Samus’ on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, and ‘Mario vs.

Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!’ via DSiWare on the 3DS.

Members may claim only one digital title per Elite status, balancing variety with exclusivity. A spokesperson for Nintendo of America summarized the rewards, stating that this year's offerings are designed to express appreciation for loyal fans while providing both collectible memorabilia and classic digital experiences.

They emphasized that the program enables fans to enjoy exclusive benefits simply for engaging with Nintendo products and services. As Club Nintendo continues to evolve, members can look forward to more diverse reward options in the future, with Nintendo of America listening attentively to community feedback.

Whether fans choose the Mario playing cards, vibrant posters, the annual calendar, or classic Nintendo digital downloads from the eShop, the 2012 rewards reflect the enduring relationship between the iconic publisher and its passionate fanbase. To be eligible for this year’s Elite rewards, members had to achieve their coin status by June 30, 2012.

While some collectors may wish for even more coveted items, such as limited edition controllers, autographed games, or unique apparel, Club Nintendo's 2012 selection underscores Nintendo's recognition of fan loyalty and its ongoing commitment to rewarding community engagement.
