007 First Light Campaign Length Revealed: IO Interactive Targets Around 20 Hours

IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond entry, 007 First Light, now has a clearer runtime estimate ahead of its late-May release.

The game, developed by the studio best known for the Hitman series, will launch on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on 27 May 2026, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version has been delayed to a later date this summer.

New comments from the development team shed light on campaign length and post-launch content plans.

According to a conversation reported by YouTuber JorRaptor, IO Interactive’s gameplay team indicated the studio is aiming for the average player to spend roughly 20 hours completing the main campaign.

Paraphrasing the development team’s statement: IO Interactive expects the main 007 First Light story to take about 20 hours for a typical player, and that estimate does not include the additional missions delivered via the Tactical Simulator.

The Tactical Simulator is a significant part of IO Interactive’s post-launch roadmap.

The studio has confirmed the mode will introduce new missions and high-score challenges after launch, extending replayability beyond the core campaign.

That approach echoes the structure familiar to players of Hitman: World of Assassination, where replayability and challenge-driven modes provide longevity beyond a single playthrough.

Campaign length will naturally vary depending on difficulty settings and individual player skill.

IO Interactive’s estimate is a baseline for an “average” playthrough; some players may finish faster, while completionists pursuing every objective and challenge can expect to spend more time with the game.

007 First Light will be available on standard digital storefronts and platforms at launch, with PC, PlayStation and Xbox versions arriving on 27 May 2026.

The Switch 2 edition remains scheduled for release later this summer, following the brief delay announcement.

As with other high-profile releases, availability and storefront promotions for Nintendo platforms may be detailed in future Nintendo Direct presentations or eShop listings.

IO Interactive’s combination of a substantial single-player campaign and a persistent Tactical Simulator aims to balance a story-driven Bond experience with ongoing challenge-based content that encourages replay and competitive score chasing.
